Apple launched the iPad Pro at its 'Let Loose' event this month. The 2024 tablet gets an OLED screen and an M4 chipset as massive upgrades over its predecessor. However, reports claim that some users on Reddit and MacRumors Forums reported a static grain pattern on the newly revamped screen.
According to reports, the grain is evident in dark environments with brightness set to low or medium settings in muted shades, such as grey. For better context, users claim the effect looks similar to an image taken with high ISO and has a lot of visual noise. However, MacRumors report this could be the "screen-door effect" found on OLED displays due to design or manufacturing process.
The pixels in screens can have inconsistent texture and graininess which may be noticeable more on larger displays. Plus, OLED screens also get individual brightness pixel adjustments and power management which may lead to variations in light intensity and appear as a grainy effect in low light or when displaying a colour.
Anybody else have extremely noticeable grain on an OLED iPad?

According to the report, most cases concern the 11-inch iPad Pro and a few references to the 13-inch screen. Plus, the report concerns the standard glass trim model. The matte and nano-texture trims are also available on the tablet. Some reports also claim this could be because of a misalignment of the dual parts of the tandem OLED display.

A similar issue was spotted on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and may be visible more due to the lower pixel density. As for the iPad Pro 2024, the model gets a Tandem OLED 120Hz screen. It offers 1,000nits SDR peak brightness and 1,600nits HDR peak brightness. It runs on an M4 chipset and gets a 12MP wide rear and a 12MP selfie shooter. The tablet debuted alongside the iPad Air 2024. A new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro also debuted at the event.
