OnePlus 12R 256GB Storage Refund Update: Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus announced the launch of the OnePlus 12R in India last month. The smartphone was advertised to offer the UFS 4.0 storage on the top-end model. However, after reports of the 256GB version having UFS 3.1 storage gained wide recognition on social media, the company issued a statement to apologise for the error. In the latest move to rectify the mistake, the company has also proposed that users can avail of a refund.

Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, posted on Friday that users of the OnePlus 12R can discuss the update with the customer service staff and discuss the next steps which can include "a refund until 16th March 2024." Further, Lui added that the "customer service teams are now fully briefed on the situation" and have been addressing these concerns for a while now.

While the COO and President stressed the sheer goodness of the OnePlus 12R, the quick action is a part of the efforts to "restore trust" in the brand. Meanwhile, the company acknowledged the mistake on February 12 when Liu posted that "we have made a mistake in our communications for OnePlus 12R".

He added: "During the launch of the OnePlus 12R, we announced Trinity Engine, a new set of software algorithms that help keep your phone’s memory and storage running fast and smooth for years to come. Due to an error, we stated that the storage enhanced by Trinity Engine would be UFS 4.0 in some variants. I can now confirm that the storage in all variants of the OnePlus 12R is still enhanced by Trinity Engine but is actually UFS 3.1." Users were told to reach out to Customer Support to discuss the matter at that time.
