OnePlus is all geared up for the launch of its flagship OnePlus 13 series at an event in India and other global markets on January 7 at 9pm. According to reports the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has added a plethora of new features to its premium variants this year, which includes a much more powerful processor, better water protection, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, enhanced cameras, revamped layout and larger batteries. Lets take a look at what can be expected from both the OnePlus 13 series smartphones ahead of their launch.

OnePlus13 Key specifications

While the OnePlus 13 is yet to make its debut in India, it has already showcased itself in China which gives us a fair Idea of what can be expected from the launch of this upcoming device. The OnePlus 13 boasts a 6.82-inch BOE X2 2K+ AMOLED display, offering a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and the world’s first DisplayMate A++ rating.

 It also comes with a triple camera setup on the back featuring a Sony LYT 808 primary sensor, a 50MP Sony LYT600 telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and to top it of it also has a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide angle lens. Further to enhance your selfies and video calling experience it also has a 32MP Sony IMX612 front facing camera.

The powerhouse behind the OnePlus 13 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which has an impressive AnTuTu score of 3.18 million. The device also supports upto 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The OnePlus 13 comes with an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. It features an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an improvement over the optical sensor on the OnePlus 12.

The device is equipped with a large 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W SuperVOOC fast charging. It also offers 50W wireless charging and is compatible with magnetic charging.

OnePlus 13R key features

The OnePlus 13R will feature a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and 2,160Hz PWM dimming. The smartphone will also sport an Oppo Crystal Shield Glass protection on the top.

The powerhouse behind this smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 3 processor which is paired with combined with the Adreno 750 GPU to handle graphic-heavy tasks. It also comes with a support of up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The OnePlus Ace 5 Pro (China variant) comes with a triple camera setup, featuring a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The OnePlus 13R may offer an improved camera setup, replacing the macro sensor with a telephoto lens. It could also feature a 16MP selfie camera on the front.

The OnePlus 13 will likely boast of an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance and an ultrasound in-display fingerprint sensor replacing the optical sensor which was there in the previous generation.

The Ace 5 Pro is equipped with a 6,100mAh battery in China, but the Indian variant may feature a slightly smaller battery, similar to other recent releases like the iQOO 13 and Realme GT 7 Pro. However, it is almost certain that the OnePlus 13R will run on the latest OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15.


Expected price range for the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R:

currently the OnePlus 13 starts at 4,499 Yuan (₹53,000 approx.) in China, 200 Yuan above its predecessor for the standard/base variant and it stacks up to 5,299 Yuan ( ₹62,500 Approx.) for the premium version. Similarly, the phone is expected to see a price increase from last year's starting price of ₹64,999.

The OnePlus 13R is likely to be priced higher than its predecessor due to the inclusion of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and other upgrades. It will be interesting to see if the Oppo sub-brand manages to price the OnePlus 13R around ₹40,000, but that mystery will only be solved at the official launch on January 7.
