The OnePlus Nord 5 is set to be the company's next major release following the OnePlus 13s, and it's coming in tandem with its more affordable sibling, the Nord CE 5. As the heir apparent to last year's well-received Nord 4, the Nord 5 promises a string of significant improvements designed to take on the likes of Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Realme in the cutthroat midrange arena.

Where early rumours suggested the Nord 5 would retain identical camera hardware from its predecessor, OnePlus has confirmed otherwise. The firm has recently revamped its Indian website, where it presented fundamental camera specs that represent a clear leap for the series—particularly in a department where Nord devices have usually fallen behind.

Flagship-Grade Camera for a Midrange Price?

In what may be a huge selling point for photography lovers, OnePlus has announced that Nord 5 will pack a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor—the same main camera sensor in the top-of-the-line OnePlus 13. This sensor will introduce optical image stabilisation (OIS) features to the Nord series, greatly enhancing its imaging capabilities.

Although the secondary camera remains unnamed, there are rumours of a standard 8MP ultrawide lens probably being added to fill out the dual-camera configuration. On the front, they can look forward to a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with autofocus, recording 4K video at 60fps—a highlight for vloggers and selfie fans.

Performance and Display Specs

The OnePlus Nord 5 is fuelled by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and accompanies 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. To maintain temperatures during prolonged gaming sessions—particularly with frame rates up to 144 fps—the phone features a 7,300 sq. mm vapour chamber cooling system.

The screen also receives a significant upgrade: a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which should provide silky-smooth visuals when gaming, browsing, or streaming video.

Battery, Charging, and Software

Powering the phone is a 5,200 mAh battery, supported by 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging. Users can also expect the phone to come with Android 15, topped with OnePlus's OxygenOS skin for a smooth software experience.

In terms of storage, the Nord 5 will likely be available in 256GB and 512GB variants. Other features could include an in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and IP65 for dust and water resistance.

Launch Date and Pricing

The OnePlus Nord 5 will come out in India on July 8, 2025, and is likely to have a price tag between ₹30,000 and ₹35,000. With strong camera improvements, fast performance, and a feature-packed design, OnePlus seems to be taking the Nord 5 as a solid offering in the mid-tier Android market.
