Even though the global launches of Oppo Reno14 and Reno14 Pro are coming up on June 1 in Malaysia and July 3 in India, everyone is already talking about the Reno15 series. Industry insider Digital Chat Station is sharing Intel regarding the new Reno15 cameras, which will include flagship smartphone features and more compact, flagship-like designs. The expected addition of a 200MP camera makes it obvious that they’re aiming to make this phone a premium flagship device. There seems to be some major upgrades planned for the phone, so let's take a look.

Reno 15 Series May Feature 200MP Main Cameras

Another heavily speculated upgrade has been set at 50, and it involves increasing the primary sensors on both the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro models. This could greatly improve Oppo's competition with other top-rated camera smartphones.

  • Current Reno 14 and 14 Pro: 50MP main sensors
  • Reno 15 and 15 Pro (Expected): 200MP main sensors
  • Periscope telephoto: Expected to return on both models

All these features imply that their target audience is focused photographers looking to get better zoom capabilities as well as high-res photography through a mobile device

Reducing Display Sizes for a More Compact Smartphone

Strangely enough, Oppo seems like they might be going toward reducing display sizes with the Reno15 series. This is something we don’t see too often nowadays, and that is because most smartphone users prefer larger displays.

Model

Display Size (Previous)

Display Size (Expected)

Reno14

6.59 inches

Reno 15: 6.3 inches

Reno14 Pro

6.83 inches

Reno 15 Pro: 6.78 inches

  • The Reno 15 may become one of the few “compact” premium Android phones in the market.
  • Both phones are still expected to offer curved AMOLED panels, possibly with high refresh rates.

Flagship Features Being Tested

As per the leak, Oppo is said to have flagship-level hardware for the Reno15 lineup, which they seem to have researched extensively. Although some features remain unconfirmed, others are being considered or tested:

  • Wireless Charging: A first for the Reno lineup
  • Metal Middle Frames: Premium build quality
  • New flagship Chipsets: Unconfirmed, but a possible step up from the current Snapdragon and Dimensity options

If these features make it to the final version, the Reno 15 series could blur the lines between mid-range and flagship devices.

Final Thoughts

We still have a few months until we hear anything new about the Reno15 and Reno15 Pro, but from what has been revealed, Oppo seems to be putting in a lot of effort. The huge camera upgrades, sleek new designs, and possible top-tier features suggest that the Reno15 series might really shake things up for Oppo. We will have more information as the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 approaches.
