Google Pixel 9a Leaks: Google introduced the Pixel 9 lineup in August 2024, featuring four models—the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Now, just a few months later, the company seems to be preparing for another addition: the Pixel 9a. Unlike previous years when the ‘a’ series was announced at Google I/O in May, rumors suggest that Google might launch this budget-friendly variant earlier than expected—possibly on March 26.
New Renders Reveal Fresh Colors and Design Tweaks
Tipster Evan Blass has shared fresh renders of the Pixel 9a, revealing a new purple shade named Iris, in addition to black, off-white, and coral color options. The phone’s design appears slightly different from previous Pixel models, featuring smoother curves and edges, drawing comparisons to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series.
One major change could be a subtle camera bump, moving away from the signature horizontal camera bar that Pixel phones have had for years. This could be because the Pixel 9a is expected to have a thicker body, possibly to house a larger battery and enhanced internal components.
What to Expect in Terms of Hardware
The Pixel 9a is rumored to feature a 6.28-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,700 nits. Powering the device could be Google’s in-house Tensor G4 chipset, paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Google is also expected to offer seven years of software and security updates, making it a long-term contender in the mid-range segment.
Camera and Battery Details
Leaks suggest that the Pixel 9a’s camera setup will include a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 13MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Another key highlight could be its 5,100mAh battery, promising solid battery life.
Expected Pricing
As for pricing, the Pixel 9a is rumored to start at €499 (roughly ₹46,000) for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB model could be priced at €599 (around ₹55,000).
With its expected design tweaks, hardware upgrades, and an earlier-than-usual launch, the Pixel 9a could be a compelling choice in the mid-range smartphone market. If these leaks turn out to be true, we won’t have to wait long to see what Google has in store!
