Jio Prepaid Plans:Reliance Jio recently brought back its 'Value' category for prepaid plans, after having removed it a few days ago. Under this category, users can now choose from two voice-only prepaid plans priced at Rs 448 and Rs 1748. Additionally, Jio has introduced a new sub-category called 'Affordable Packs', which includes a familiar Rs 189 prepaid plan.

This Rs 189 plan isn’t entirely new—it was available before but had been removed following a tariff hike in July 2024. In fact, a report by TelecomTalk on January 30, 2025, had stated that Jio had discontinued the Rs 189 plan. However, it seems that Jio has decided to bring it back.

Jio’s Rs 189 Plan: What’s Included?

The Rs 189 prepaid plan offers a 28-day service validity, 2GB of data, unlimited voice calls, and 300 SMS. Users also get access to JioCinema, JioTV, and JioCloud subscriptions. Once the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) data limit is reached, speeds are reduced to 64 Kbps. This makes it Jio’s most affordable plan at the moment.

For those seeking more data, the Rs 199 plan is another option. Priced a bit higher, it offers 18 days of validity, 1.5GB of daily data, and 100 SMS per day. However, it should be noted that while the Rs 199 plan provides more daily data, it has less validity compared to the Rs 189 plan. Neither plan includes unlimited 5G data.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether Jio will introduce a prepaid plan with 84 days of validity, especially since competitors like Bharti Airtel are already offering such plans for Rs 548. The coming days might bring further adjustments to prepaid plans, with possible updates from Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Airtel. It seems like the telecom industry is in for some interesting changes soon.
