Samsung has emerged as the most repairable phone brand, outshining its fierce competitor, Apple, in a comprehensive analysis conducted by the Electronics Hub for the year 2022. The study used data from iFixit to determine which smartphones were easily repairable and which were the most difficult to repair, and based on average repair times and difficulties, the report concluded that Samsung had beaten Apple by a wide margin.
Which Phones Were Found Easy To Repair In 2022:
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the last generation flagship, after the Galaxy A40 was ranked third in terms of DIY repair friendliness. The Moto G7 was found to be the most easily repaired. Speaking of the statistics, the Galaxy A40 took an average repair time of 32.6 minutes while the Galaxy S22 Ultra had an average repair time of 48.1 minutes. Which Phone Was Found To Be Hardest To Repair In 2022:
The Google Pixel 7—which debuted last year—was discovered to be the most difficult to repair, with an average repair time of about 60 minutes. It was noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 was also the most difficult device to fix, taking about 58.4 minutes.
Samsung History In Terms Of Home Repair Friendliness:
In 2013 and 2014, Samsung ranked first for home repair friendliness. It's interesting to note that after losing the top spot to rival companies like Apple, Xiaomi, Motorola, and Google for almost a decade, it has now regained it.
What Changes Were Made By Samsung:
Even in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which is now sold with battery pouches to facilitate battery replacements, the company has placed a strong emphasis on repairability. Companies have prioritised repairability in order to stay competitive in the market, taking into account that it is one of the key considerations for consumers, particularly in India.
