Galaxy S26 Edge 5G: Samsung had recently released its Galaxy S25 Edge 5G, which is a much slimmer and more compact version of the Galaxy S25 lineup, and it surely turned heads when it was launched in India. Even though it paired high-end specs within a thin body, the battery department was a bit of a disappointment for a lot of fans; a 3,900 mAh battery was just not cutting it and was underwhelming for a top-tier device.

But it would seem that Samsung is not ready to back down and might have something new up its sleeve for the next version, the Galaxy S26 Edge 5G, if that is the name the company decides to move forward with, of course. Now there are early leaks suggesting a 4,400 mAh battery capacity, which is a noticeable bump, and this would make it a tough competition for the iPhone 17 Air anticipated next month. But still, will a 4,400 mAh battery cut it?

A well-known tipster, Setsuna Digital, posted on Weibo that the Galaxy S26 Edge will be powered by the new 4400mAh unit. That puts it right between the current S25 and S25 Plus in terms of battery capacity—and significantly ahead of the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumoured to come with just a 2900 mAh battery.

So while Apple’s ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air might take the crown for thinness, Samsung appears to be betting on a balance of form and function. With the S25 Edge already boasting more battery than the yet-to-launch iPhone 17 Air, a boost to 4400 mAh would only widen that gap.

Alongside the Edge, Samsung’s S26 series is also expected to get a complete revamp. If recent reports are to be believed, the company may shift away from its usual naming strategy and instead launch three models: the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra — possibly replacing the standard S26 and S26 Plus models altogether.

With all that said, these are just early leaks and should be taken with a pinch of salt, as nothing official has been confirmed by Samsung as of now. But if the battery setup is indeed true for the said device, it could give tough competition to other phones aligning themselves with the same segment, like the iPhone 17 Air.
