Samsung will reveal their Galaxy S26 series later today, but a late leak has revealed an exciting feature that could revolutionise their flagship lineup: AirDrop file-sharing support could make an incredible step forward in cross-platform compatibility by enabling Samsung users to seamlessly share files between iPhones, iPads and Macs via the Quick Share system.
AirDrop Support on Samsung Galaxy S26 Series
Tipster Chunvn8888 claimed in a post on X that Samsung's Galaxy S26 lineup will support sharing files directly with Apple devices using AirDrop. Currently, Samsung relies on Quick Share for Android-to-Android transfers; this information suggests it could also enable compatibility with AirDrop similar to what Google implemented with Pixel phones.
How the Feature Is Expected to Work
A screenshot shared by the tipster indicates that Samsung Galaxy S26 devices will be able to detect and share files with iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other AirDrop-compatible devices.
To initiate a transfer:
- The Apple device must set AirDrop visibility to “Everyone”
- Samsung users must enable Quick Share from the quick settings panel
- A “Share with Apple devices” toggle will make the Galaxy phone discoverable
During this process, the Samsung handset may temporarily disconnect from Wi-Fi while searching for nearby Apple devices.

One UI 8.5 Could Bring Feature to Older Devices
Leaks also suggest that AirDrop compatibility might not just be limited to Galaxy S26 series smartphones; Samsung could introduce this feature via an upcoming One UI 8.5 update to older Galaxy handsets and significantly expand its reach across the Android ecosystem.
Google was the first to introduce AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share on their Pixel 10 series, later expanding it to include the Pixel 9 lineup. If Samsung adopts this approach, it could potentially benefit a much wider user base due to their global smartphone market share.
AirDrop support on Samsung phones would mark an exciting development in Android-iOS interoperability, providing file sharing between iPhone users and Android users without resorting to third-party apps or cloud storage services as has often been required in the past.
