Samsung Galaxy Watch News: Samsung, a South Korean smartphone maker, announced the Galaxy Watch 6 in India in July 2023. While the series debuted with a round dial, this may change with the upcoming smartwatches from the tech giant. According to SamMobile, the company could bring back the square design on the Galaxy Watch.
This could be a design revisit to the previous Galaxy Gear that debuted in 2013 with a 1.6-inch Super AMOLED screen and a square design. Recent followers of Samsung smartwatches may associate them with circular dials and Apple's smartwatches with a square design language. However, this design identification could change if the claims in the report emerge true.
According to the news outlet, the company is considering squarish design on their smartwatches similar to the Galaxy Gear, Gear 2 and Gear Live, which debuted more than a decade ago. For the unaware, the first smartwatch to debut with a circular dial in Samsung's catalogue was the Gear S2 with a rotating bezel. Lately, the latest models in the Galaxy Watch lineup come with a circular design.

The report noted that Samsung may choose a square design language with the Galaxy Watch 7 series or wait for one more year before the major overhaul. SamMobile reported that the idea of a squarish design is undergoing discussions internally and the switch to a new shape may materialise. It remains to be seen how users will react to the new shape change similar to Apple.
