Samsung appears to be gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 later this year, following the release of the Z Flip 6. While its predecessor runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, there's still some uncertainty about what will power the next-gen foldable. Early leaks hinted at the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (Elite for Galaxy), but more recent reports are doubling down on a different direction: Samsung’s own Exynos 2500.

Z Flip 7 May Ditch Snapdragon for Exynos

According to a fresh report from ChosunBiz, Samsung is leaning toward using the Exynos 2500 chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The reason? Cost and production efficiency. Samsung is reportedly planning a limited production run—just 200,000 units—between May and June, with a possible launch in July. Opting for an in-house chip is expected to either make the phone more affordable for buyers or boost Samsung’s profit margins.

Conflicting Reports Still Circulating

That said, the debate isn’t settled. Some earlier leaks pointed to the Z Flip 7 launching globally with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite, which would align it with Samsung’s premium performance phones. But these newer reports suggest a more strategic move: keeping the Snapdragon for flagship models while cutting costs on smaller production runs like the Z Flip series.

Cheaper Z Flip Variant Also in the Works

Interestingly, there’s also talk of a more budget-friendly version of the Z Flip 7—possibly branded as Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE or Z Flip Xe. This variant is rumoured to feature an Exynos 2400e chip, reinforcing Samsung’s apparent push toward broader use of its own silicon.

Z Fold 7 Keeps It Simple with Snapdragon

Meanwhile, things are a lot clearer for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Unlike the Z Flip 7, there’s been no disagreement about its processor. All current leaks agree it will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite, custom-tuned for Galaxy phones.

In short, Samsung may be splitting its foldable strategy: keeping high-end Snapdragon chips for the Fold lineup, while giving the Flip series a more cost-conscious Exynos refresh—at least for now.
