Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Samsung’s latest foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, has officially landed—and it’s slimmer, smarter, and way more expensive. If you're eyeing it, here are 10 things you really should know before dropping ₹1.74 lakh (or more) on a phone that folds like origami.
1. It's Slimmer Than Ever—Like, Seriously Thin
At just 4.2 mm when unfolded and 8.9 mm folded, this is the thinnest Z Fold Samsung’s ever made. Translation: It fits better in your pocket, but your wallet might feel the weight instead. When unfolded, the thinness of the phone stands at 4.2 mm, close to another foldable that was also marketed as one of the slimmest foldables ever, the Oppo Find N5, so if thinness is what you are going for, why not get a cheaper device?

2. It Weighs Less, But Still Costs Heavily
Weighing 215 g (down from last year’s 239 g), it’s noticeably lighter—but don’t expect the same from its price tag. With a starting price of ₹1,74,999, the only thing getting lighter might be your bank account.
3. Stronger Than It Looks – FlexHinge Tech To The Rescue
It’s built tough—Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, and Samsung’s Armour Aluminium frame. Plus, a new Armour FlexHinge promises better durability. So yes, you can flex this phone without worry.

4. Snapdragon 8 ‘Elite’ Means Business
It was almost given that the foldable would house a powerful chip, and here Samsung has delivered. It packs the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Whether you're gaming, multitasking, or casually summoning AI features, it can handle it all without breaking a sweat. But does it make sense for a regular, not-so-extravagant user?

5. AI is Practically Running the Show
AI took centre stage right from the beginning of the Galaxy Unpacked event that took place, and these devices and many other smartphone makers are gradually catching the AI train, as it is becoming more common and almost imperative these days to have an AI device.
So yes, from Circle to Search to Gemini Live and AI Results View, Samsung’s AI features are baked right into the experience. The phone’s smart enough to assist, organise, and even draw with you. But if AI is the only thing you care about, then it would not seem too pocket-friendly for you to go for this new foldable, as many other devices are already offering that at a much cheaper price.
6. Cameras That See More Than You Do
Yes, it needs to be pointed out that the camera setup is good, one of the best, I would say, in the industry. The triple camera setup includes a massive 200 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide, and a 10 MP 3x telephoto. There’s also a 10 MP selfie shooter on the front and another one inside. Basically, it has more cameras than some DSLR kits.

7. Display Goals, Achieved
The inner 8-inch AMOLED panel is bright (up to 2600 nits!), fluid (120 Hz), and sharp. The outer 6.5-inch screen is just as smooth. Watching movies or editing docs? It's like carrying a mini tablet that folds up.
8. Battery That Tries Its Best
You get a 4,400 mAh battery, which is good enough to last a day (with help from some AI optimisation). Fast charging gets you to 50% in 30 minutes. Still, given the price, we wouldn’t say no to a bigger battery, as we already have smartphones that breach the 6,000 mAh mark, and apart from that, some devices that will get launched later on in this year might cross the 7,000 mAh mark as well, so is it still worth it?
9. Software's Fresh Out of the Oven
The Fold 7 ships with Android 16 and One UI 8—making it the first Samsung phone to launch with the latest Android. Expect smoother animations, better multitasking, and yes, more AI magic.

10. It’s Gorgeous, But Is It Worth ₹2.1 Lakh?
Blue Shadow, Jetblack, Silver Shadow, and an online-exclusive Mint—yes, it’s a looker. But if you're aiming for the top-end 1TB model, it’ll set you back ₹2,10,999. Is it worth it? If you’re a tech enthusiast or productivity monster—maybe. If not, you might want to consider two regular flagship phones for the same price.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is easily Samsung’s most refined foldable yet. It’s powerful, premium, and packed with features, but it comes at a steep price, with a starting price of Rs 1.74 lakh. Is it really worth folding your budget for this foldable? Now this is for you to decide.
