Samsung appears to be getting ready to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with early leaks indicating it might shatter records as the world's slimmest foldable smartphone to ever exist. This next-gen foldable, which is expected to launch in the upcoming months—potentially in July—will reportedly be taller and wider than the existing Galaxy Z Fold 6. But what truly distinguishes it is the astonishingly slim form factor and an inner display that comes close to edge-to-edge. Based on what has been leaked, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be thinner than all foldables on the market today, including the Oppo Find N5. This is everything that has leaked up until now.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Dimensions Leaked
A trusted insider, Ice Universe (currently known as Ice Cat) has shared the anticipated measurements of the Galaxy Z Fold 7:
- Z Fold 7: 158.4 × 143.1 × 3.9mm (unfolded)
- Z Fold 6: 153.5 × 132.6 × 5.6mm
- Z Fold SE (W25 China Version): 157.9 × 132.6 × 5.6mm
The Z Fold 7 will be taller and wider compared to its predecessors, but significantly thinner, making it easier to hold. It’s expected to measure 8.9mm thick when folded, meaning it would be the slimmest foldable smartphone ever, beating the Oppo Find N5 (8.93mm when folded, 4.21mm unfolded).
Ultra-Thin Bezels for a More Immersive Display
Another highlight of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is its nearly frameless display. According to Ice Universe, the new model is said to have the inner screen’s bezels reduced to an astonishing 1mm; a significant improvement to the 1.9mm bezels on the Z Fold 6, enhanced viewing experience for users with evolved screen technology.
Moreover, the expected launch date for Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also nearing; it’s said to come alongside the Fold 7. Flip 7 is rumoured to have the cover display’s bezel increased to 1.2mm, which would be a step in the right direction for improved design consistency across the foldable family.
Performance Upgrades Expected
Some reports claim that there are some very powerful hardware upgrades under the hood. It is rumoured that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 "Elite" chipset, which will guarantee unmatched multitasking, gaming, and productivity. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could come equipped with Samsung's in-house Exynos 2500 processor.
While these details have not been confirmed officially, they do align with Samsung's yearly goals of advancing the capabilities of foldable technology.
Conclusion
Provided the leaks hold any truth, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 seems like it will be one of the most advanced and stylish foldable smartphones to ever be manufactured. Its ultra-slim body and nearly bezel-less design, along with ever so slight performance enhancements, will most likely aid in drastically improving the ease of use and design of the device. Tech enthusiasts will eagerly await more credible information as the expected July launch approaches. Samsung appears to be gearing up to sustain its leadership–both literally and figuratively–in the increasingly competitive foldable phone market.
