Samsung is notifying its users to take protect their accounts and data by July 31, or else they might lose it forever. The new change in policy states that any account that has not been accessed for two years will be marked inactive and purged. It would benefit users that have not had the Samsung login for a while to use it now to check credentials and manage data because the summer is filled with new devices. This new change in policy comes directly before major announcements, which enhances the relevance of these two policies.
Samsung’s Inactive Account Policy Explained
According to a SamMobile report, Samsung is going to start deleting user accounts from July 2025 onwards.
- This new policy concerns any and all Samsung accounts that have not seen a log-in for two years.
- All data related to such inactive user accounts will permanently be deleted from Samsung’s servers.
- After such deletion, the company will also stop maintaining these accounts.
Like SamMobile suggests, this is a part of an attempt by Samsung to “protect” unused and idle accounts that are vulnerable and might get hacked.

Email Alerts Will Be Sent to Dormant Accounts
To prevent users from receiving unnecessary deletion emails, Samsung will begin notifying email users of older and inactive accounts. These emails will serve as a gentle reminder of the July 31 deadline when the new policy will be operational.
To retain data, users must log in to their accounts before July 31. Without taking action, users risk losing all their data, and their accounts may become obsolete.
“To ensure your old account doesn't go away, you should sign in to it before July 31. If you haven't, and the end of July has come and gone, so too goes your data.”
Major Samsung Announcements Coming This Summer.
The policy update also corresponds with the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event that is set for later this summer. Here’s what is expected to launch:
- Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Galaxy Z Flip 7
- Galaxy Watch 8
- Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
While no information has been confirmed, a report from a South Korean media claims that New York will once again be the host city for the event.
One UI 8 and Android 16 Rollout
Samsung is always ready to improve their hardware, and now, with the launch of the One UI 8 beta for Galaxy S25 series users, it seems to be working on its software as well.
Key highlights of One UI 8:
- Revamped user interface
- AI-powered enhancements
- Built on Android 16, which is expected to launch in Q2, closely following Google’s timeline
- Beta users can already explore the new look and feel, along with several functional improvements.
Final Thoughts
Anyone with a Samsung account that hasn’t been logged into for a while, the new policy would serve as a wake-up call. It is imperative to log in at this very moment, to ensure your data is safe with you, especially with accounts facing auto deletions commencing July 31. Alongside the account tidy up and with the Galaxy Unpacked boom set to happen, users have a chance to familiarize themselves with the South Korean tech giant vision.
