Samsung has unveiled the Exynos 2600, and this one matters more than the usual chip refresh. For the first time, a smartphone processor has been built on a 2nm process, and Samsung is the company behind it. The chip uses Gate-All-Around technology, which is meant to improve performance without pushing power consumption through the roof.
The pitch is simple. Better AI. Better gaming. Better efficiency. All packed into a single chip. Samsung hasn’t confirmed where the Exynos 2600 will show up first, but industry chatter points to the Galaxy S26 series, expected early next year.

A New CPU Layout
At the heart of the Exynos 2600 is a custom CPU setup. There’s one high-performance C1-Ultra core clocked at 3.8GHz, backed by three C1-Pro cores running at 3.25GHz and six more efficiency-focused C1-Pro cores at 2.75GHz.
In plain terms, this layout is meant to handle heavy tasks faster while keeping day-to-day usage efficient. Samsung is claiming up to a 39% jump in CPU performance compared to the previous Exynos chip, along with better power efficiency.
Graphics And AI Take Centre Stage
The GPU is Samsung’s new Xclipse 960, a deca-core design based on ARMv9.3. Ray tracing performance, which has been a weak point in older mobile chips, is said to be up to 50% better than before. That should translate into smoother gameplay and more realistic lighting, assuming developers take advantage of it.
AI is clearly a big focus this time. The Exynos 2600 includes a 32K MAC NPU, and Samsung claims generative AI performance is up by 113%. That matters less for benchmarks and more for things like on-device AI features, smarter cameras, and faster system-level processing.
Built To Run Cooler
Thermals have been a long-standing concern with flagship chips, and Samsung is trying to address that with something it calls Heat Pass Block technology. The idea is straightforward: improve how heat moves away from the chip during sustained loads. Samsung compares it to having a built-in heat sink, aimed at keeping performance stable during gaming or extended AI tasks.
Memory, Storage And Camera Support
Devices using the Exynos 2600 will support LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. On the camera side, the chip is ready for some extreme setups, including single sensors up to 320MP or dual-camera combinations like 64MP and 32MP. It also supports single-camera video recording at 108MP at 30fps.

The Bigger Picture
The Exynos 2600 feels like Samsung trying to reset expectations around its in-house chips. On paper, this is easily the most advanced Exynos yet. Whether it finally closes the gap with rivals will depend on real-world phones, but this time, Samsung is clearly swinging hard.
