Sony has officially announced the FlexStrike, a new wireless fight stick for the PlayStation 5 designed for competitive fighters and casual players alike. Packed with high-end features and customisation options, the FlexStrike connects wirelessly via Sony’s proprietary PS Link adapter and offers compatibility with other PlayStation accessories. Though pricing and an exact release date remain under wraps, Sony confirms a 2026 launch window. The fight stick will also be showcased at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas from August 1–3.

Wireless Performance with PS Link Adapter

The FlexStrike uses the PS Link adapter to connect wirelessly to the PS5. What’s particularly useful is that the adapter also supports simultaneous connection with:

  • Pulse Elite wireless headset
  • Pulse Explore wireless earbuds

This allows players to use voice chat and in-game audio without juggling connections. Impressively, you can connect two FlexStrike sticks to a single PS Link adapter, making local multiplayer or couch co-op a plug-and-play experience.

The included PS Link adapter supports USB-C, ensuring compatibility with modern console and PC setups.

DualSense-Level Controls with Customisation

Sony built the FlexStrike to mirror the functionality of a standard DualSense controller. That means players get the familiar layout:

  • Face buttons: Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square
  • Shoulder buttons: R1, R2, L1, L2
  • Touchpad access

But the FlexStrike adds thoughtful extras. A lever mode switch lets you toggle directional inputs, while a lock button ensures your configuration doesn’t accidentally change mid-match. These features cater to both serious fighting game pros and newer players looking for flexibility.

Additionally, once paired, the fight stick can even wake your PS5 with a quick press of the PS button — just like a standard controller.

Sony has made significant strides toward supporting the growing esports and fighting game communities, particularly ahead of its 2026 first-party game release. These updates strengthen Sony's efforts in this regard.

Set to Launch Alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

The FlexStrike fight stick isn’t launching in isolation. It will likely debut alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a new first-party fighting game developed by Arc System Works in partnership with Marvel Games. Known for their iconic anime-style visuals and mechanically rich games, Arc System Works brings credibility to the project.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature:

  • 4v4 matchups
  • A deep roster of Marvel superheroes
  • Signature ArcSys visual style
  • Release on PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store)

Sony plans on releasing both games and fight sticks at once in 2026, to maximise appeal among both competitive players and Marvel fans.

Final Thoughts

Sony’s FlexStrike fight stick is shaping up to be a serious contender in the fighting game hardware space. With wireless convenience, DualSense-level control, and competitive-grade customisation, it’s tailor-made for both pros and casual players. As Sony gears up for the release of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the FlexStrike could be a central piece of its strategy to dominate the fighting game scene in 2026.
