Spotify has introduced a fresh in-app option that makes it far easier for users to bring their playlists from other music platforms directly into their Spotify library. The new Import your music feature sits inside the app’s Your Library section, offering a much simpler route for those planning to shift their listening habits to Spotify.
The company has partnered with TuneMyMusic to make this possible. For years, TuneMyMusic has handled cross-platform playlist migrations, but that experience always required visiting a separate website or relying on a third-party interface. Spotify’s latest integration brings that entire workflow into its own app, reducing steps and eliminating the need to jump between different platforms. The option is currently rolling out on mobile and appears at the bottom of the Your Library page.

Using it is straightforward. After tapping Import your music, the app connects you through TuneMyMusic’s flow, where you can pick the service you’re leaving. Apple Music, YouTube Music and Deezer are among the supported platforms, and transfers done via Spotify don’t seem to carry the usual TuneMyMusic limitations. Once you select what you want moved, the playlists land in your Spotify account automatically.

After the transfer, Spotify uses the incoming data to understand your listening profile. This informs daylists, recommendations and personalised mixes. Users can also collaborate with friends on shared playlists or create custom cover art with Spotify’s AI tools. Recent updates have added features like track-to-track transition adjustments and Smart Filters that sort music by mood and genre, and most of these features work for both free and premium listeners.
The release also comes at a sensitive time for Spotify. The company is facing criticism tied to recruitment ads for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, while outgoing CEO Daniel Ek’s decision to invest in a military technology company has led some artists to take down their content. Even so, Spotify recently recorded subscriber growth. With playlist transfers now built into the app and lossless audio expected soon, this rollout may be positioned to bring fresh users on board at a moment when the platform needs them most.
