Swiggy is all set to launch its new massive ramp-up, where users can order food, book tables and track deliveries using AI chatbots. Swiggy is making it possible for its systems to talk to AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude by incorporating the Model Context Protocol (MCP) in all of its services. With this move, the company said it would make daily ordering simpler by allowing users to complete tasks with natural language prompts rather than on multiple app screens.

Swiggy Integrates AI Chatbots Across Services

Swiggy confirmed that MCP integration will be available across its key verticals:

- Food delivery

- Instamart grocery delivery

- Dineout restaurant reservations

Through this version, you can make orders and book tables on AI-enabled chat platforms and even check the status of delivery. Swiggy also said Instamart is the world’s first quick commerce platform to enable MCP.

How the AI Ordering System Works

Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol enables AI agents to interface, in a secure way, with third-party platforms and take actions on behalf of users. Using such integrated solutions, AI chatbots will have the ability to:

- Search restaurants or grocery items

- Compare available options

- Build and update carts

- Apply offers and coupons

- Collect delivery addresses

- Place orders and track deliveries

Swiggy says that its AI agents can browse and purchase from more than 40,000 SKUs using simple text commands like “Order the ingredients I need to make Thai green curry” or “Order me a highly rated biryani that I would enjoy.”

Dining Reservations via AI

For Dineout users, the AI system can:

- Retrieve available booking slots

- Select restaurants

- Apply discounts

- Confirm table reservations in one command

This removes the need to manually switch between menus and booking screens.

Swiggy’s Vision for AI Commerce

Madhusudhan Rao, the chief technology officer at Swiggy, said in an interview that the integration demonstrated what convenience meant in India: personal habit and time constraints or routines. MCP will eliminate friction in decision-making and make on-demand services more personalised and efficient, the company said.
