AI technology is being incorporated into corporate communications, with some of the world’s leading tech companies allowing digital avatars to stand in for them during quarterly earnings calls. This new advance was recently showcased by both Klarna and Zoom as the two firms utilized AI generated CEO avatars to deliver their financial results.
Klarna Debuts AI Avatar of CEO for Q1 2025 Results
Buy-now-pay-later titan, Klarna, received much criticism after using an AI avatar of their president Sebastian Siemiatkowski to deliver the firm’s Q1 2025 financial results. The video shot which runs for eighty three seconds was first reported on TechCrunch and opens with the avatar advancing his introduction.
“It’s me, or rather, my AI avatar.”
Klarna has not shied away from talking about how AI integrations are being used, especially after technology developed through Microsoft “streamlined operations.” In an interview with CNBC, Siemiatkowski has stated that AI integration does seem to aid in managing processes more efficiently and tends to lead to a smaller staff. This isn’t Klarna’s first use of a digital executive. AI avatars have become a staple of many of the firm’s internal and external communications.
Zoom’s Eric Yuan Uses Digital Twin for Q1 2026 Call
During Zoom's Q1 2026 earnings call, Eric Yuan, the company’s CEO, made his AI-based moves. Spencer AI and Zoom Clips were utilised, as Yuan’s AI persona delivered the statements he was supposed to present. It also bore a watermark, ‘Created with Zoom AI Companion,’ confirming that it was generated using Zoom’s AI Companion.
Currently, he is participating in the onsite Q&A session. He expressed appreciation for the experience:
“I truly love my AI-generated avatar. I think we are going to continue using that. I can tell you, I like that experience a lot.”
His support highlights the rest of his vision where AI can take on routine tasks like standard business updates in everything but principal leadership functions, freeing humans to focus on higher-order strategic thinking.
AI Avatars Signal a New Era for Corporate Communication
Earnings calls represent a growing adoption of AI involvement in business activity. Executives increasingly delegate attendance to AI as its presence ensures efficient and clear communication of relevant details, while strategic focus on live interaction is available when needed.
Whether or not AI presentations are accurate is a common point of debate, but the convenience AI offers in preparing corporate reports is universally appreciated. More businesses will likely accept AI-generated avatars as business representatives in the future.
Final Thoughts
The use of CEO avatars by Klarna and Zoom marks a significant step in the use of AI in business communication. It will not be long before other executives start adopting the idea—or Eric Yuan’s exuberant acceptance of it was just the tip of the iceberg. With Klarna’s astounding operational improvements, the use of AI avatars in earnings calls and investor presentations could very well become the norm.
