JE Technology Desk: After the US and Australia, Truecaller has launched its AI-powered call screening assistant within its caller ID app in India. It uses machine learning and speech processing tech to combat scams and screen calls. As per the company, it acts as a virtual receptionist that can respond to calls and filter out spam. It is swift to act and can understand the person to respond in a relevant manner.

It offers a live transcription of the conversations to let users gain context on what is happening on the call and decide when to take control. Users can choose from the available options to continue the conversation via their virtual Assistant or label it as spam, according to FoneArena.

Truecaller Assistant: Here's How It Works?

Once the call is left unanswered or declined by the user, it gets transferred to the Assistant, who takes control with the help of voice-to-text technology. Once the conversation starts, the live transcription is generated on the screen in the chat window. Users can either accept the call or report it as spam from here.

The Assistant will start by saying: "Hi, the person you're calling is using a screening service, may I ask who it is?" followed by the reason for calling.

Truecaller Assistant: Features

The Assistant can answer calls in five voices with live transcription for better context. It can interpret Hindi, English and more regional languages. Users can record the screening process to keep track of information at a later period or recall the missed details. Plus, a user can customise the greetings to deliver a personalised experience to users on the call.

TrueCaller Assistant: Pricing

According to the report, it is available on Android and supports Hindi, English and 'Hinglish'. Users can try out the feature for 14 days, after which they can purchase the Truecaller Premium Assistant plan for Rs 149 per month. However, as a limited-period promotional deal, it is available for Rs 99 per month.
