JE Technology Desk: Truke, a budget wireless earbuds maker in India, freshly unveiled the Truke BTG Neo TWS with six-mics and Dual Pairing mode, which the brand claims are segment-first features in a TWS under Rs 2,000. From the looks of it, you might mistake it as a gaming-centric audio accessory, but the IPX5-rated buds can serve a larger audience with features like two device linking and 'Movie' mode.

Read along as I share my full in-depth review after spending two weeks with the wireless solution.

Design and Build:

BTG Neo is made out of plastic but feels sturdy in the hands. It has an ergonomic design and fits well in the ears. The RGB breathing LEDs on the case and crescent-shaped lights add to the jazzy gaming DNA of the TWS.

Truke BTG Neo Sound Quality:

Out of the box, the TWS is set to 'Movie' mode by default which is fine for OTT and dialogue-heavy content but not music. I instantly switched to 'Dynamic' mode for improved output from the 13mm Titanium drivers. From bass to treble tones, the sound quality is decent. But there is room for improvement in instrument separation. You may also check out 'Bass Boost' mode to experience boomy bass.

As for the microphone and calling experience, the six mics coupled with Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) prove their worth during calls and audio recordings. For users who take voice calls in outdoor conditions, this will be a great companion for your ears.

Gaming And Latency:

Another aspect where this TWS shines is gaming. With Game Mode switched on, the latency lags just disappear. I can confidently say that Truke's 35ms low latency is a strong pillar in its list of positives. While triggering Nitro in Asphalt 8 and observing dialogues in a movie, no audio lag was evident.

Connectivity and Controls:

Bluetooth 5.3 ensures users face no issues with connection. On top of this, Dual Pairing, highlighted as the strong point of the TWS, kicks in to switch between two devices. While I received the call on my smartphone and later played a video on my PC, this feature trimmed the extra effort of switching devices.

Battery Life:

The manufacturer claims a battery backup of 8 hours on the buds and 80 hours with the case. While I did not time the battery drain, it did manage to survive for two full-length (two-hour+) movies at 80 per cent volume and two days of casual testing for over two hours on a single charge. In short, you need not worry about the backup on these buds.

Scope of Improvement:

While it is a decent product for the price, there is still room for polishing. Truke can introduce a custom app for better user experience and improve instrument separation and vocals clarity in the audio in future.

Truke BTG Neo Price and Availability:

At the time of filing, you can get the BTG Neo for as low as Rs 1,399 after applying a coupon discount on Truke's official website. The buds are also available on Amazon India and Flipkart.

Verdict: Should You Buy The Truke BTG Neo?

Decent sound, good battery life, a dedicated game mode with 35ms latency, six mics for clear calls, and two device pairing, all wrapped in a case with colourful LEDs, justifies the price of the BTG Neo. The TWS gets a thumbs up for 'Netflix and Chill' and gaming from my side. However, if you prefer mesmerising high notes and trebles, you may consider some other options.
