TWITTER recently announced the updated functionality to upload two-hour videos with up to 8GB size for Blue subscribers. Since the feature went live, Blue subscribers have been flooding the platform with pirated movies that violate the policies of use. In the latest move, a user (@ghoulhag) leaked a high-resolution version of John Wick: Chapter 4, which is set for an OTT release on Lionsgate Play on June 23.
However, the movie tweet was restricted after about 10 hours, according to Mint. The tweet collected over 2.5 million views, 7,900 retweets and over 50,000 likes. A point worth mentioning is that the Twitter user was probably not a Blue subscriber because of the absence of a Blue Checkmark on the profile. A viewer could have easily downloaded the movie via a video downloader website or app via the URL. However, we do not recommend you do this due to the associated risks.
Twitter Could Replace Telegram
While Telegram was infamous for downloading such content in the past via a link for free, Twitter is transitioning as the new aggregator for users who can use it to download films. Besides the latest instance, movies like Shrek, Evil Dead and more were uploaded in full glory in the initial days of the new feature release.
When did this start?
The negatives of the move came to light in Elon Musk's announcement tweet when users flooded the comment section with full-length movies. This has flagged piracy and copyright issues associated with Twitter's longer video uploads. The media removed from the platform now have the message: "This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner."
Meanwhile, the new feature is among the slew of changes introduced with Twitter Blue service after Musk's takeover deal last year.
Coming to John Wick Chapter 4, the movie first released in theatres on March 24. This movie was reportedly the last iteration of the film series that went on floors in 2014. Directed by Chad Stahelski and among the top action films, it has earned $402 million across the globe.
