Threads, Meta's highly awaited microblogging platform, has officially launched, and Instagram users are adoring it. In a new update, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the Threads has crossed over 10 million sign-ups in just 7 hours of the launch. The application which is available on both iOS and Android, will directly compete with the Elon Musk-led microblogging platform Twitter.

While there are numerous reports claiming that Instagram's Thread is quite similar to Twitter, here are some important differences that will help users decide which site to use.

Twitter vs Threads: Major Differences

1. Hashtags

Thread users will not be able to use the popular hashtags on the platform and it will be restricted to Twitter and Instagram only. Zuckerberg has announced that the platform is in the first stage of development but it still feels irrelevant for brands and users to not use hashtags on the social media platform.

2. Character Limit

Twitter users now have an increased character limit of 280 characters, while Twitter Blue users have a 25,000-character limit. Threads are currently offering a 500-character limit for one post, which can also include links, photos, and videos.

3. Threads On The Web?

Unlike Twitter, Threads is not available for Web users at the time of writing and is limited to iPhones and Android. The users can see the posts but will not allow them to like, reply or create a post, but show an option to install the application.

4. Compatibility

Threads will be compatible with other social media networks, including Mastodon, according to Instagram.

5. Oraganised Feed

Unlike Twitter, which has For You and Following Tabs that currently segment the content that users see, Thread users will be able to see the threads of brands, personalities, and celebrities on a single feed.
