UPI Record Transaction: India has reached a historic milestone in the digital payments ecosystem. The government has confirmed that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions touched a record value of Rs. 230 trillion by December 2025. This data was shared by the Minister of State for Finance in the Parliament, highlighting the rapid growth of UPI compared to the previous years. UPI is also getting international adoption alongside this major domestic milestone achievement. Now multiple countries are supporting the system for cross-border payments after currency conversion.

UPI Transactions Reach All-Time High

On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, in Parliament, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, while responding to a question, said that UPI transactions had surged to a new peak.

“As far as domestic transactions are concerned, transactions worth a total value of  Rs. 230 lakh crore have been made till December in the year 2025-26. This is against a total transaction value of  Rs.139 lakh crore in the year 2022-23,” the minister told the House, citing the news agency.

UPI’s Expansion Beyond India

UPI is now operational in eight countries outside India afer currency conversion and in line with their domestic laws. This is confirmed by the government as well.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said UPI is currently used in:

- Bhutan

- France

- Mauritius

- Nepal

- Qatar

- Singapore

- Sri Lanka

- United Arab Emirates

“The government, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL) have been taking up various steps for international expansion of Unified Payment Interface (UPI),” said Sitharaman, according to the agency report.
