Cupertino-based tech giant Apple announced the availability of the Apple Vision Pro in the US this month. The headset debuted with a host of apps. However, YouTube was among the apps not supported natively by the headset. This may change in the future as a YouTube spokesperson has confirmed to The Verge that a Vision Pro app is "on the roadmap".
The update follows recent news of YouTube, Netflix, Spotify and others restricting support for their iPad apps to function on the headset. However, the report speculated things may have changed after the rise of Juno (a native YouTube app alternative) by Christian Selig, priced at $4.99 and available on the App Store.
Speaking of the YouTube experience in the virtual world, Jessica Gibby told the news outlet: "We're supporting it by ensuring YouTube users have a great experience in Safari. We do not have any specific plans to share at this time, but can confirm that a Vision Pro app is on our roadmap." While a clear launch timeline has not been announced, there could be two possibilities: the company might remap the iPad app to support the headset or build something without using existing apps.

Meanwhile, OpenAI's ChatGPT also announced support for visionOS. Users can find the app in the App Store. Among other apps, video-conferencing app Zoom, Adobe FireFly AI and Lightroom also debuted for visionOS. The Vision Pro sports micro-OLED screens with up to 100Hz refresh rate and 23 million pixels for an immersive experience in these apps.
Under the hood, it sports an M2 and R1 chip. The headset sports 12 cameras, six microphones and five sensors. For security, Vision Pro ships with Optic ID. It supports Spatial Audio for an immersive sound experience. The device can offer up to two hours of battery life (with general use) with the battery pack.
