Samsung has finally launched the W26, its new foldable device, exclusively in China. Following weeks of teasers earlier in October, the W26 is a design-focused iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold7—retaining its strong fundamentals while introducing premium design features and special privileges to high-end buyers.
While the W26 shares nearly identical hardware with the Galaxy Z Fold7, which is already available in stores around the globe, the W26 differentiates itself with aesthetic upgrades and features aimed at a more premium market. These include a gold frame that has a ribbed texture, a signature design element that exists to identify it as unique to its peer.

Internally, the W26 is the same as the Fold7 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, a 200MP primary camera, a 4,400mAh battery with 25W quick charging, a 6.5-inch outer screen, and a massive 8-inch inner foldable screen. The device is also as thick (8.9 mm) and as heavy (215 g) as the Galaxy Z Fold7, reinforcing its technical parity.
Samsung is releasing the W26 in two storage variants—16GB of RAM coupled with 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. The prices start at CNY 16,999 (approximately $2,383) for the 512GB variant and go up to CNY 18,999 (approximately $2,664) for the 1TB variant.
Why does the W26 deserve the premium price over the regular Fold7 in China? The buyer of the W26 receives a Kevlar case, better packaging, and a CNY 1,000 (approximately $140) telecom discount coupon. While these accessories won't be applicable to all consumers, they speak volumes of Samsung's attempt to sell the W26 as a collector-grade foldable.
Interestingly, there is no W26 Flip this year—compare that with the W25 Flip of 2024, which was based on the Galaxy Z Flip6. This year, Samsung has isolated the book-style foldable by itself.

Similar to previous W-series foldables, the W26 will not see release outside China. However, it could be adopted by third-party importers in some markets. At least for now, at least, the W26 is an exclusive option for Chinese shoppers who desire a more upscale variant of Samsung's top foldable.
