WhatsApp has introduced a new custom theme for the users along with background filters for the Android beta version. The new feature comes along with over 20 themes with an aim to offer better customisation to the users. However, the feature is currently available for select beta testers and is expected to roll out to the public in the coming weeks.

The new feature will allow users to apply different themes across individual or group chats. The users can choose a unique theme for specific conversations as well. Much like Instagram, the new theme comes with automatic message colour maintaining a contrasting look. The users can also tweak wallpapers to match the chosen theme.

How To Access Chat Themes:

In order to access the chat theme feature, the users need to install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. Further, the mobile users will have to modify the device's DPI (Dots Per Inch) settings which might allow them to access the feature. By entering the developer mode on Android, users can adjust the “Smallest width” setting to a higher value, which can temporarily enable the "Side-by-side view" option. Disabling this option and restarting WhatsApp may activate chat themes for some eligible accounts.

Do note that all the users might not get all the features at the same time as WhatsApp introduces the new updates in a phased manner. The availability of the chat themes completely depends on specific account eligibility.
