WhatsApp News: Instant messaging application WhatsApp continues to grab headlines for developing new features across platforms. In the latest update, the company is now working on AI-powered options for editing photos, according to WABetaInfo. The new feature was spotted by the WhatsApp enthusiast in the Android beta '2.24.7.13' version. It is currently in the "under development" phase and not rolling out for testers.

According to the report, the AI photo editing feature will likely be present in the drawing editor of WhatsApp next to the HD icon. The new tool may allow users to add creative effects to photos before sending them to the recipient. Three options: 'Backdrop', 'Restyle' and 'Expand' are highlighted in the screengrab shared by the platform.

'Backdrop' will allow users to change the background for a different touch in photos. The 'Restyle' option may alter the artistic style of photos for a fresh look. Lastly, the 'Expand' option will allow users to enlarge and adjust the size of photos. The new features are set to serve as the playground of creativity and help enhance the visuals shared on WhatsApp.

WABetaInfo noted that the editing options will be available to all users for free. Once the feature arrives, it will help enhance the chat experience of users. It will act as the latest addition to WhatsApp's drawing editor catalogue, which includes high-definition image transfer, image rotation and crop options, stickers, texts and drawing options.

While it is not live for testers, beta testers can keep their app updated to ensure they can try out the feature whenever it is available in the testing channel on Android. Meanwhile, WhatsApp was also spotted working on a privacy feature to disable link previews. Once the feature is available, the toggle will likely be available within the Privacy tab's Advanced section. You can read more on this here.
