Instant messaging application WhatsApp was recently spotted (by WABetaInfo) testing a feature to pin multiple messages within a chat window on Android. Soon after rolling out the feature to beta users, the company started seeding the option to a larger audience. Announced by Mark Zuckerberg via his WhatsApp Channel, WhatsApp accounts can now pin up to three messages in a conversation.
For the unaware, WhatsApp's stable build only supported one pinned message in a chat that could be moved to the top for easy access in a group or individual conversation. With the arrival of the enhancement, the option to access important information will be eased further and users can pin more messages at the top.
"Pinned messages just got better! You can now pin up to three messages per chat so all of your important messages are easy to find," WhatsApp head Will Cathcart said on his WhatsApp Channel. Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg also shared the update on his Channel and posted: "Now you can [pin emoji] up to 3 messages in WhatsApp chats."
Users can pin all kinds of messages, such as links, text, images, polls and more, which can be helpful to keep track of important information at your fingertips. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to pin messages.
How To Pin Messages On WhatsApp?
Step 1: Open the chat window of the contact or group in which you wish to pin a message
Step 2: Long press the message that you want to pin
Step 3: Tap on the three dots option at the top right and choose the 'Pin' option
Step 4: Select the time duration (24 hours, seven days or 30 days) for which you want to pin a message
Step 5: Now tap the "Pin" option
If you plan to reserve a message in a separate section forever, you can "Star" a message to access it from the information menu of a contact whenever required.
