WhatsApp has finally released the much-anticipated screen lock feature for its Desktop beta users. After a year of anticipation since its announcement, this security enhancement is finally being rolled out to a select group of WhatsApp Web beta users, says a report by WabetaInfo. The screen lock feature is intended to improve privacy and security for desktop computer users who access WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Lock Screen Feature: How To Use?
WhatsApp Desktop users who enable the screen lock feature can protect their conversations from unauthorised access by requiring a password to enter. The feature locks the app and requires users to enter a password before they can access their conversation list. Users can enable the feature by going to WhatsApp Settings > Privacy, where the option should be visible if it's enabled for their account. The feature can also be configured to prompt for the password at predetermined intervals, giving the user more control over their security settings.

The main benefit of this feature is its capacity to safeguard private communications even when a user's computer is unattended. The screen lock makes sure that the contents of the WhatsApp chats remain private and are inaccessible without the right password if someone gains access to the computer while the user is away. To further protect the user's privacy, push notifications won't be shown when the screen is locked.
WhatsApp Screen Lock Feature: When Will It Roll Out?
According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the screen lock feature is currently available to a small group of WhatsApp Desktop beta users who have participated in the official beta program. The capability is expected to be gradually rolled out to additional customers over the next few weeks.
