WhatsApp Status Video, Photo Download: WhatsApp statuses are a popular medium for users to express themselves on the messaging app. Users may upload text, images, videos and more as statuses that can be viewed by contacts. Sometimes, viewers may wish to download these videos or photos uploaded by their contacts.

The easiest way to do this is to take a screenshot in case of a photo or ask the uploader for the video. However, if you wish to download videos without reaching out to the source, we have a walkaround that you can follow to save their WhatsApp status to your gallery on Android. But make sure not to misuse the feature to download personal photos or videos of a contact without consent.

WhatsApp Status Video: How To Download/Save On Android?

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and play the status which you want to download

Step 2: Now head to the file management app on your smartphone

Note: The app may be named differently for different smartphones, such as 'My Files' on Samsung, 'Files' on Pixel, 'File Manager' on Xiaomi phones and so on. If you do not use the default file manager, you can download Google's 'Files' app from the Google Play Store.

Step 3: Head to Settings and enable the option to 'show hidden files' (may be named slightly differently across file managers)

Step 4: Now head to your storage and look for the 'WhatsApp' folder

Step 5: Open the 'Media' folder and tap the '.Statuses' directory (will only show up if hidden files are set to viewable)

Step 6: Now locate the just-watched WhatsApp status video or photo

Step 7: Select and copy it to a visible folder in your Gallery (this will ensure the video remains in your library even after 24 hours)
