WhatsApp has introduced a feature that allows users to open chats with unknown phone numbers in its latest beta release for Windows, version 2.2342.6.0, reducing the need to clutter your contact address with unverified or temporary connections.
Through the official Microsoft Store channel, a restricted group of beta testers can now access the update, which completely changes how users message and start conversations with people they may have just met or been contacted by.
The platform hopes to improve the effectiveness and privacy of messaging with this functionality. WhatsApp users can now initiate a chat by entering a phone number without adding it to their contact book thanks to the platform's inclusion of a "Phone number" input point on the "New chat" screen.
For users who are concerned about their privacy, the ability to start a discussion without adding a contact to the address book is a big bonus because it allows them to keep control over their privacy settings even when they are conversing with strangers.
Contacting unknown numbers is made easier with the new chat screen. Without the effort of first adding the phone number to your contacts, you can just input it and begin a discussion. Additionally, the New chat interface makes it simple to search for phone numbers, which improves the user experience even more.
WhatsApp plans to expand this option to more users in the next few days, so a larger audience can take use of this creative and user-friendly feature, even if it is presently only available to a select group of beta testers.
Meanwhile, the company has also introduced a capability to run two accounts on a single device. The users will only require two different SIM cards to do so.
