TINDER, one of the popular dating applications which is constantly working on the security features has now announced a major change to its community guideline in which the platform will be removing the social media handles from the bios of the public.
With this step, the company aims to restrict the users from promoting their business and other accounts in order to make money. The company said, “Tinder is not a place to promote businesses to try to make money -- members shouldn't advertise, promote, or share social handles or links to gain followers, sell things, fundraise, or campaign.”
In order to fight this, the company said that it will remove social handles from public bios which means the users will not be able to put their social media handles in the Tinder Bio.
"The majority of Tinder's members are between the ages of 18 and 25, and Tinder is frequently their first dating experience. Tinder is utilising this policy update to remind and educate members about good dating behaviours -- both online and in real life -- to support these younger daters as they begin their dating experience," Ehren Schlue, SVP of Member Strategy at Tinder, said in a statement.
The business claimed that members may use in-app tools to be explicit about their aims and relationship kinds, allowing them to start the conversation on the same page, helping them avoid oversharing, and lowering their risk of getting removed from the app.
Additionally, the dating app stated that any actions or conduct that indicates, plan, or inflict harm to another member, whether online or off, physically or digitally, have no place on Tinder and will be treated seriously. Further, the company has announced that the members will start getting email and Tinder app notifications for these improvements.
