iPhone 17 Series Update: Apple is anticipated to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup, and this year’s reveal could bring a fresh twist. As per reports, we can expect four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a brand-new addition—the iPhone 17 Air. The Air model is already making headlines for its distinct design and unique features that mark a noticeable shift from Apple’s recent releases.
When will the iPhone 17 launch?
If Apple sticks to its usual calendar, the iPhone 17 series will likely be announced in mid-September—most likely during the second or third week. Pre-orders are expected to go live soon after the launch event, with general availability following within a week or two.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: A major camera upgrade
The Pro and Pro Max versions are shaping up to be camera powerhouses. Leaks suggest they’ll include a trio of 48MP lenses—main, Ultra-Wide, and a new Fusion sensor. The highlight, however, could be the addition of a 48MP Tetraprism Telephoto lens, a component expected to deliver a big leap in zoom quality and low-light performance.
There’s also buzz about Apple introducing a mechanical aperture system in the Pro models. This would let users manually adjust how much light enters the lens—giving photographers greater control over exposure and depth of field, and allowing for more creative and professional-looking shots.
iPhone 17 Air: Slim, sleek, and minimalist
What truly sets the iPhone 17 Air apart is its incredibly thin body—rumored to be just 5.5mm thick. This slim profile means no room for a telephoto lens, so Apple is likely going with a single 48MP Fusion rear camera. It’s a clean, minimalist approach that could appeal to fans of lightweight design.
Standard iPhone 17: Solid but familiar
The base iPhone 17 is expected to come with a 48MP primary rear sensor and a 12MP Ultra-Wide lens, a setup quite similar to the iPhone 16. On the front, it may house a new 24MP selfie camera, which could be a noticeable upgrade for casual users and content creators alike.
What about pricing in India?
Pricing for the iPhone 17 series in India is expected to start at Rs 79,900. However, there’s a chance both standard and Pro variants could see a bump in price. This is partly due to import tariffs introduced during the Trump administration and rising manufacturing costs in China, fueled by ongoing US-China tensions.
With photography-focused features, a new ultra-slim Air model, and possible price hikes, the iPhone 17 lineup seems poised to shake up Apple’s fall release in more ways than one.
