Microsoft Sends Another Reminder for Windows Upgrade

Recently, Microsoft sent an email to its users reminding them that they will end the support for Windows 10 in October. So they reminded them to either upgrade their Windows or if their PC is not supported due to their strict hardware limitations they need to upgrade their PC.

The email outlines two options: first, check if the current setup meets Windows 11's technical requirements, like having TPM 2.0 and a certified CPU, and second, if it doesn't, consider looking into a new PC.

The intention behind this message is to boost security and keep systems in line with new technical standards. The message focuses on system checks, but it also suggests that older hardware can be recycled through local organizations.

Microsoft has started requesting people to upgrade to Windows 10. It seems that one of the obvious solutions for Windows 10 lovers will be to upgrade to Windows 11, even if they don’t want to, as after 14 October 2025, Windows 10 will stop receiving bug fixes, security updates, and new features from Microsoft. However, Windows 10 is still the most people OS, consisting of around 58% market share while Windows 11 just climbed to 38% recently.

Also, Windows 10 users can expect to see notifications, including full-screen pop-ups, reminders, and taskbar alerts, urging them to upgrade to Windows 11 or explore other options as Microsoft's support for Windows 10 ends in October 2025. Still, you can use Windows 10 by installing a good antivirus and keeping it up-to-date at your risk.

Talking about the browser, Google Chrome will continue to receive security updates, and so far, Google has not announced anything about ending support for Windows 10.

As a Windows 10 fan, I know many of you might not be interested in upgrading your PC. So make sure to check the app library before you install any of them. Here is the list of OS that you can switch to.

- Ubuntu Linux – It is one of the most famous OS after Windows and Mac and has most of the utility and productivity features that you would expect from a regular machine.

- Linux Mint – It is based on Linux and is a lightweight OS that you can switch with Windows 10.

- Chrome OS Flex – As the name suggests, Chrome OS Flex is from Google and needs very fewer requirements to run.

What If You Don’t Upgrade or Switch?

You should not worry as your PC won’t stop working, it will only stop receiving security updates against the vulnerabilities and issues that come after the support ends. Other than this, there are chances that some software and apps may face compatibility issues as the support of Windows 10 soon after Microsoft stops pushing Windows 10 updates. You will just need to tolerate the annoying Windows pop-ups and notifications asking you to switch to Windows 11.
