Apple launched the iPhone 15 series last month at its Wonderlust 2023 event. The series has been surrounded by several controversial problems ranging from heating to durability. But the new issue gaining limelight can be easily called the 'Odd One Out'. In a strange incident, a new report claims that users of iPhone 15 models who have charged the device from the wireless charging system in the BMW car are complaining that their NFC (near-field communication) chip has stopped working.

According to a MacRumors report, this problem is significantly noticeable while using Apple Pay. While on the wireless charging pad, the affected phones enter data recovery mode, and a white screen pops up, users on the MacRumors Forums and X (formerly called Twitter) claimed.

In the NFC-enabled Apple devices, the feature aids Apple Pay and virtual car keys. The impacted device prompts an error: "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay" with the text: "An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay" within the Wallet app, and a possible solution is not yet available. Customers even claim that the tech giant replaced their iPhones after confirming that the chip is no longer functional.

However, a reader must note that the replaced model is equally vulnerable to the problem. Hence, no permanent fix to the problem exists. According to the report, the issue is primarily affecting the Pro models. But, users must also exercise caution while charging their non-Pros iPhones from a BMW wireless charging dock. The models of BMW cars on which users are facing this issue are unknown at the moment.
