Elon Musk, the owner of micro-blogging platform X, has announced that he will soon stop using his official phone number and use the audio and video call feature on X to connect with the people. It seems that Musk aims to promote the newly added audio and video call features on X. For those unaware, the feature was rolled out in the initial days of October 2023 and from then, the Tesla CEO is promoting the new add-ons.

"In a few months, I will discontinue my phone number and only use X for texts and audio/video calls," Musk wrote on X.

According to the X micro-page, all the accounts will be able to get the audio and video calls but only premium subscribers will be able to make the audio and video calls. With this, the company aims to offer enhanced privacy.

A beta version of the app's voice and video calling features was released last year and was only accessible to a small number of users. The microblogging site launched the ability for Android users to make audio and video conversations straight from the app last month. A number of users responded to Musk's article with their opinions.

"Elon in 2027: I'm not going to text anyone anymore, and I won't use my phone for anything visual. I'm using my brainwaves and neural flonk connection 47.2," a user wrote.

Another user asked, "Will it be encrypted or will the alphabet agencies be listening?"

"Where will you receive OTPs for bank transactions?" asked another user.

In the meantime, X has downloaded the most, topping Apple's App Store charts."X is now the #1 most downloaded app of any kind!" Musk wrote on Twitter.
