Microsoft has now officially released Xbox Cloud Gaming in India, something that is a big step for gaming enthusiasts in the country. It’s the service that gamers have been waiting for: one that allows them to stream Xbox’s most powerful experiences directly on their phones, PCs or even smart TVs — no console necessary. The news came Tuesday after months of leaks and guesses, and it brings India into line with dozens of other countries where the service is already live.
Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Live in India
Following plenty of testing and a slow rollout, Xbox Cloud Gaming is now active for all players in India on Microsoft’s relaunched subscription tiers for Game Pass—Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. All three options have unlimited cloud streaming and provide players the ability to instantly play hit games across a variety of devices without downloads or installations.

Allocate Resources: Even Microsoft has switched on local cloud servers in Pune and Chennai to cut down latency and offer a lag-free gaming experience for Indian players.
For those keeping score, here’s how the new Game Pass plans in India are priced:
Essential: ₹499/month — 50+ games with cloud streaming access
Premium: ₹699/month — expanded library with added perks
Ultimate: ₹1,389/month — hundreds of games, including day-one releases, plus full cloud streaming access
Subscribers can now enjoy console-quality games on any supported devices — no pricey hardware necessary.
Who Can Stream Xbox Games in India?
The cloud gaming feature is now available for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers in India. It’s part of all new plans now, so if you’re in the Essential, Premium or Ultimate channel tier, you can stream straight off of Microsoft’s Cloud.
Even if you use PC Game Pass, it’s available to you there too so both console and PC gamers can jump into cloud-based gaming seamlessly.
Nor do you need an Xbox console of any kind. What you will need is:
- The Xbox app on a compatible device (Windows PC, Mac and iPhone/Android phone/tablet, the Samsung and LG T-sponsored Smart TVs or Fire TV).
- A stable internet connection (20 MBps or higher recommended).
- A compatible Bluetooth or wired controller.
How to Start Playing via Xbox Cloud
It’s easy to start playing Xbox Cloud Gaming:
1. Open the Xbox app on your device, or visit the cloud gaming portal in your browser.
2. Scroll through cloud-enabled games in your Game Pass plan.
3. Choose the game you’re interested in and click Play — the game will start on Microsoft’s servers within seconds.
4. Your gameplay is streamed right to your screen, so there’s nothing to download or install.
If you have a fast, stable connection, most games begin within seconds, and the experience is very much like playing an Xbox console in the cloud.
Why This Matters for Indian Gamers
Update (September 15th, 2020): Xbox Cloud Gaming in India marks a massive accessibility change for the country’s gaming ecosystem. Players no longer need pricey hardware to play high-end games — just an internet connection and a Game Pass subscription.
The fact that cloud servers are now localised should result in Indian users experiencing noticeably less lag and much quicker load times than they did previously—something that brings cloud gaming to a point where it’s actually practical.
What’s Next for Xbox Cloud Gaming
And as internet infrastructure improves all over India, cloud gaming could be the entry point for millions of new gamers who have been too impecunious to buy expensive consoles or PCs. Microsoft’s move is also a competitive advantage in an increasingly robust cloud gaming market, which rivals like NVIDIA GeForce Now and the Amazon Luna are slowly growing.
In Short:
- Xbox Cloud Gaming is now officially live in India.
- Can work on your PC, smartphone, tablet and smart TV.
- Included in all plans of Game Pass (Basic, Premium, and Ultimate).
- Pune and Chennai servers for better performance locally.
- No console or downloads needed — just click and play.
With this milestone, Microsoft has transformed Xbox into something cloud powered and something that plays without borders, letting Indian gamers enjoy what the future of gaming will be — made possible through playing anywhere, anytime, on any device.
