Xiaomi is getting ready for another big launch event in China on May 21, and this time the spotlight is on the new Xiaomi 17 Max. The phone will arrive as the fifth model in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, joining the regular Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

But the event is not just about smartphones. Xiaomi has also confirmed the arrival of the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, its first clip-on earbuds called Xiaomi Ear Clip, and a new electric SUV named Xiaomi YU7 GT (2026).

The company has already started teasing the Xiaomi 17 Max heavily ahead of launch, and a few things about the phone already stand out.

For starters, Xiaomi is giving the device a massive 8,000mAh battery, which is easily the biggest battery in the Xiaomi 17 series so far. Despite the huge battery, the phone is still expected to sit firmly in the premium flagship category because it will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the same chip powering the rest of the Xiaomi 17 family.

Cameras also seem to be a major focus again. Xiaomi has confirmed that the 17 Max will come with a Leica-backed triple rear camera setup. The main camera uses a 200-megapixel sensor, while the other two cameras include a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter. The front camera will sit inside a centred hole-punch cutout on the display.

From the official teasers, the phone appears to keep Xiaomi’s familiar premium design language, with a square-shaped rear camera module. Xiaomi has also revealed at least two colour variants so far, including Blue and White.

Alongside the phone, Xiaomi is also stepping into a slightly different audio category with the Xiaomi Ear Clip. These will be the brand’s first clip-on true wireless earbuds, and they will launch in Basalt Black, Pearl White, and Satin Gold colours.

Pre-orders for the Xiaomi 17 Max, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, and Xiaomi Ear Clip are already live in China ahead of the launch event, which begins at 7pm local time (4:30pm IST). Xiaomi has also hinted that more smart home products could show up during the presentation, although details remain under wraps for now.
