Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max: It seems like this year the smartphone makers have adopted a new convention, and that is skipping their original numbering scheme for products for something different. This trend started with Apple numbering their iOS updates to iOS 26 instead of its previous serialisation that was iOS 18. Now it seems that other players are also following suit. Xiaomi has also done the same with its smartphones; the company has skipped the 16 series after the 15 series and has skipped right to the all-new Xiaomi 17 devices. Xiaomi will soon be showcasing its Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max versions. Both devices are supposed to have a full-width secondary display, which can offer a myriad of creative capabilities for its users.

Xiaomi 17 Pro
Xiaomi’s standard flagship comes loaded with features, and the most striking one is its rear display. It measures 904 x 572 pixels, refreshes at up to 120 Hz, supports DC dimming, and can peak at an impressive 3,500 nits of brightness.
On the front, there’s a 6.3-inch LTPO panel that also offers a variable 1–120 Hz refresh rate. Built on M10 luminescent material with DC dimming, this display reaches the same 3,500-nit peak brightness and is shielded by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass.
Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, all using UFS 4.1. To keep performance steady, Xiaomi has fitted a 4,637 mm² vapour chamber for cooling.
Powering the dual-screen setup is a 6,300mAh battery built with high-density silicon. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 25W reverse charging (both wired and wireless). For long-term durability, it relies on Surge G2 battery management.
Photography is handled by a main 1/1.28-inch Light Fusion 950L sensor, capable of 16.5 stops of dynamic range, paired with an f/1.67 Leica Summilux lens and OIS. A floating prism design inside makes room for a more advanced telephoto system.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max
The Pro Max pushes things further with a 6.9-inch LTPO display that supports 1–120 Hz refresh, 12-bit colour, and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. On the back, it carries a larger 2.9-inch secondary screen at 976 x 596 pixels—much bigger than the one Xiaomi introduced on the 11 Ultra four years ago.
Camera hardware is shared with the 17 Pro for the most part, including the 50MP 1/1.28-inch Light Fusion 950L main sensor with an f/1.67 Leica Summilux lens, OIS, and LOFIC HDR, along with a 50MP ultra-wide (102° FOV) and a 50MP selfie camera (90° FOV). The upgrade comes in the telephoto lens, which uses a redesigned prism layout to fit a 1/2-inch ISOCELL GN8 sensor with a brighter f/2.6 5x zoom lens. The trade-off is a longer minimum focus distance—30cm instead of 20cm.
Both models carry IP68 certification. The 17 Pro can handle submersion up to 4 metres in fresh water, while the 17 Pro Max is rated for depths of up to 6 metres.
Price And Availability In India
As of now it is not clear if the phone will be available in India or not, as Xiaomi has not made the details clear yet. But as far as pricing goes, Xiaomi has shared the following information on its website:

If we go by this information, then the pricing of these Xiaomi 17 devices in India could be somewhere from Rs 55,937 to Rs 62,154, and the Pro version could go from Rs 62,154 to Rs 75,000, and this is based on an approximation of the conversion of Yuan to INR in recent times. The Pro Max version would obviously be pricier and could be priced somewhere between Rs 75,000 and Rs 87,000. Although we must take it with a pinch of salt, as these are not official prices.
