One thing that has always been the point of debate when it comes to Apple products is whether these products are actually worth spending your money on. Even though there are a couple of options present when it comes to the tablet market, the iPad still dominates this segment. But you don't need to worry, and you don't have to shed all your money on Apple's product. For those not looking to break their banks, you are in luck, as Xiaomi has recently unveiled two new tablets, the Xiaomi Pad Mini and the Redmi Pad 2 Pro.
The Xiaomi Pad Mini is not entirely a new deal, and originally the product was launched as the Redmi K Pad previously in June in China. Nonetheless, the news of its global launch brings much relief to people who have been looking for a more affordable alternative to the iPad Mini.

Xiaomi Pad Mini: Small Size, Big Power
Xiaomi’s Pad Mini brings an 8.8-inch 3K display with a super-smooth 165 Hz refresh rate and up to 700 nits peak brightness. Dolby Vision is supported, and TÜV Rheinland certifications aim to make long viewing sessions easier on the eyes.
Flagship Chipset in a Compact Tablet
Under the hood, it runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+, the same processor found in the Xiaomi 15T Pro. With up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, it outpaces most tablets in this size class.
Charging and Battery Features
The 7,500mAh battery supports 67W HyperCharge fast charging and even 18W reverse charging, turning the tablet into a power bank for smaller devices. Dual USB-C ports mean you can charge and connect accessories at the same time. The Pad Mini starts at $429 for the 8GB/256GB version.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro: Bigger and Brighter
Those looking for a bigger screen will love the Redmi Pad 2 Pro's 12.1-inch 2.5K screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 600 nits brightness, and Dolby Vision. A standout is the Matte Glass variant, which utilises AG nano-texture coating to reduce glare by up to 97%—ideal for outdoor use.
Hardware and Performance
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, it offers up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. While not as strong as the Pad Mini’s flagship chipset, it handles everyday tasks with ease.
Long-Lasting Battery Life
The massive 12,000mAh battery ensures extended use. It supports 33W fast charging and 27W reverse charging, giving users plenty of flexibility.
