WHILE a majority of Xiaomi 5G phones are already running 5G services in India, questions regarding 5G compliance of older Mi/Redmi 5G handsets have been cropping up from time to time. Taking cognisance of the matter, Xiaomi India has shared a list of devices that will receive an update to access 5G services in India.

The area of concern in the open letter was primarily the Mi "10" series handsets that have grown considerably old, considering the "13" series is already available in India. However, to offer extended support to its older models and ensure they run 5G services via their SIM cards without any hassle, Xiaomi has confirmed it will bring an OTA update soon.

"While Mi 11X and 11X Pro and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G just got this functionality via an OTA recently, Mi 10, Mi 10i, Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro will receive an update soon," Xiaomi Adds in a letter shared on Twitter. "Our approach has been to enable a true 5G experience by bringing in functional 5G devices," the official statement adds.

The brand added that Xiaomi's entire portfolio of more than 20 5G handsets will support 5G Non-Standalone (NSA), while many may "also have access to 5G SA [standalone]" network.

Mi announced its '11' series 5G handsets (listed above) have already received the OTA update to enable 5G in India. If you are having trouble accessing 5G, you can cross-check the availability of the service in the area by your telecom service provider. Moreover, you can try these five hacks if you are facing further issues.
