HyperOS has been a massive upgrade for Xiaomi users, as it has made its debut with a variety of different features, an even better user interface and optimisations in terms of performance, personalisation and more. However, the report suggests that the Chinese smartphone maker is removing a major feature from the HyperOS. Xioami will be discontinuing the video playback feature that debuted with the MIUI 12 in the eligible devices.
The report suggests that it could be due to Google's warning, as this feature is exclusively available to Premium services by Google much like YouTube Premium customers. The feature, which is now available on the devices, allows users to listen to their favourite music albums while it runs in the background. This could be the reason Google did not want the company to provide such services.
The feature is scheduled to be removed from the popular video toolkit in future updates. The video toolbox is one of the most popular tools, and the firm has introduced a few new capabilities with MIUI 12. However, the video toolbox no longer includes choices for playing videos in the background of your smartphone. To use the function, you must first subscribe to YouTube Premium.
Xiaomi has already rolled out the security app version updates and if you update them, you will not be able to play the videos when your phone is locked. Do note that, this is not a glitch or a bug, it is the official change and is listed by the brand itself.
Meanwhile, the company has formally introduced the HyperOS in India and has also shared the list of devices that will get the update. Popular phones including Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Ultra, Xiaomi 11i / 11i HyperCharge / 11X / 11T Pro /11 Lite, Mi 10, Xiaomi Pad 5, Redmi Note 13 / 13 Pro 5G / 13 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro / Note 12 Pro 5G / 12 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 11S / 11T 5G, Redmi K50i, Redmi 13 / 13C, Redmi 12 and Redmi 11 Prime 5G will get the update in the coming months.
