BGMI, Esports And Krafton’s Competitive Events:

BGMI has played a key role in helping the esports industry grow in India, and with its comeback, the charm of e-sports also made its comeback. The esports organisations along with others have started hosting several esports tournaments to help aspiring gamers. Not only that, Krafton has itself hosted a slew of competitive tournaments, including the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 and Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series 2023. The company hosted an international India-Korea Invitational tournament.

BGIS 2023

The event had almost 2,000 teams competing for a prize pool of Rs 2 crore. 16 of the 2,000 teams advanced to the championship round. Team Gladiators won the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 (BGIS), taking home the title and a maximum prize of Rs 75 lakh.

BMPS 2023

At the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series 2023 (BMPS) big finale, which took place at Ahmedabad's EKA Arena, Team Blind Esports triumphed, taking home the top prize of Rs 40 lakh from the Rs 1 crore total prize fund. 16 professional teams competed fiercely over three days, with Blind Esports displaying extraordinary talent and strategy.

India-Korea Invitational

Krafton organised the India-Korea Invitational in Delhi, which brought together eight Indian esports teams, including the BGIS 2023 champions. At the event, which was attended by guests such as the Korean ambassador to India, there were genuine cricket challenges as well as competitive matches in BGMI and Road To Valour: Empires.

"Krafton's dedicated focus on the Indian market, coupled with a structured roadmap, has been instrumental in driving the growth of the Esports ecosystem in the country. With official BGMI tournaments providing an engaging platform for brand interaction with a diverse gaming audience, this focus has attracted an influx of brands into the industry. The recent collaboration between IQOO SOUL and IQOO as the title sponsor is a further testament to the trend of brands venturing into the gaming landscape to leverage its immense potential and reach," said Animesh Agarwal Founder and CEO of 8Bit Creatives and S8UL in an exclusive chat with Jagran English.

"Furthermore, the broadcasting of official tournaments on mainstream streaming platforms has significantly boosted the visibility of Esports and its athletes nationwide. The accessibility of these tournaments to a broader audience has led to increased visibility for athletes and also toward legitimizing competitive gaming as a mainstream sport," he added.

"In addition to official tournaments, third-party tournaments with high prize pools also play a significant role in contributing to the growth of the Esports scene. To ensure the continued flourishing of the mobile gaming industry in 2024, official, as well as third-party tournaments that provide Indian organizations the pathway to international tournaments, must be consistently organized," he said.
