YouTube, a prominent video streaming site that has been adding new features for both artists and viewers, has now released a new Shorts feature that will allow creators to use artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to create videos. The Dream Screen feature, which is anticipated to launch early next year, will allow users to create an AI-generated video or image background simply by typing in what they wish to see.
YouTube appears to be focusing more on short format video, which currently provides a lot of traction on the platform. For those who are unaware, YouTube Shorts currently has over 70 billion daily views, and viewers apparently prefer to watch short-format films rather than large-format videos.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan demonstrated the new feature at the company's Made on YouTube event and claimed it would encourage more people to join Shorts. The business also unveiled YouTube Create, a new mobile application designed to speed the manufacturing process.
"With our new experimental feature, producers may create AI-generated video or image backgrounds for their YouTube Shorts. Just write an idea into a prompt and watch what happens," the business said in a statement.
"We want to make it easier for everyone to feel like they can create, and we believe that generative AI will enable us to do so," Mohan said during the event.
When Will This Feature Rollout?
This free tool, which is now in beta on Android in a few regions, can be used to create Shorts or longer movies and gives producers the ability to edit, add a soundtrack, add subtitles, and more—all from their smartphones. It is expected that the platform will introduce the public version of the feature by next year.
'AI Insights' is a different tool that has been created to 'help ignite your next idea and outline suggestions based on what your audience is already seeing on YouTube'. In the initial test of YouTube, more than 70 per cent of those polled felt it had aided in the development and testing of their video ideation.
Meanwhile, YouTube has also announced that it is bringing an AI-powered dubbing tool which may help creators in making new content pieces.
