Hyderabad Charminar Fire: 17 people, including eight children died and over 15 injured in a massive fire at a residential building in Gulzar House, near Hyderabad’s Charminar, early Sunday morning. The blaze, which started around 6 AM, prompted a swift response from Fire and Emergency Services.

Officials said they received a call around 6:30 AM and rushed 12 fire tenders to the location. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the flames under control. Several people were found unconscious inside the premises and were immediately rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to officials, the fire started at a building identified as Srikrishna Pearls. The exact cause has not yet been confirmed, though preliminary findings suggest a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. A detailed investigation is currently underway.

Among those injured were several children and the condition of some victims is reported to be critical. Medical teams at nearby hospitals are providing emergency care to those affected.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his sorrow over the incident. In a post shared on social media platform X, he said that rescue operations were being intensified and assured that full support would be extended to the families affected by the tragedy.

Union Minister for Coal and Hyderabad MP G. Kishan Reddy also visited the site. He met with officials, reviewed the ongoing relief efforts, and enquired about the cause of the fire.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the Hyderabad fire tragedy. In a statement on X, the PMO offered condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. It announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each person who died, while those injured would receive Rs 50,000.
