Hyderabad News: The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) on Sunday stated that the first fully automated multi-level parking complex of Hyderabad will soon be available for public use in Nampally. The authority stated that the parking complex will be the first of its kind in India, adding that the project will involve zero human intervention. The HMRL further stated that the parking complex will provide convenience to the commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion from the key areas of the city.

While providing details, HMRL managing director NVS Reddy stated that the parking complex has the potential to inspire the other cities to make similar complexes to reduce the congestion. "Beyond solving parking issues, it will also set a new benchmark in terms of technology, user experience, safety, and convenience," Reddy was quoted as saying by the Times of India. Reddy further stated that the complex will be open for the public after receiving permission from all the concerned government departments.

The officials further stated that the users will be guided to the terminal through a smart card that they will receive upon arriving at the complex. They further stated that the users will be able to exit the vehicle after parking it on the turntable. The sensors will categorise the vehicle depending on body style and will park it in a suitable space of the complex. The users will be able to receive their vehicles by paying the fees at the counter and swiping the smart card.

The officials stated that the turntables have been designed to provide relief to the elder and differently-abled users. "It is being built under HMRL's supervision under a public-private-partnership (PPP) model by a firm named Novum. The project will use Germany's advanced ‘Palis' technology for a fully automated puzzle parking system," HMRL stated.
