Hyderabad Metro Update: Hyderabad is set to witness a major boost in public transport as the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) moves forward with Phase 2 of the metro project. The expansion aims to improve connectivity and ease congestion, particularly for passengers travelling to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
Hyderabad Metro Expansion Plans
As part of this expansion, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Corridor IV is being developed, covering a distance of 36.8 km. The new route will connect Nagole to RGIA, offering a seamless metro link for commuters. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared and will be submitted to the State Government for approval. Once cleared, the proposal will be forwarded to the Central Government for final approvals.
Authorities believe this corridor will significantly benefit air travellers and daily commuters by reducing reliance on road transport. The project is expected to ease congestion on major roads leading to the airport while also boosting business activity along the metro route.
Hyderabad Metro Purple Line: Proposed Metro Route And Stations
The upcoming Purple Line of the Hyderabad Metro is expected to have 24 stations along its stretch. These include:

According to a Times Now report, the final list of stations may change based on further planning and approvals. However, the corridor is expected to offer a direct and reliable metro connection to the airport, enhancing overall transportation efficiency in the city.

With the DPR nearing completion, the approval process from both state and central authorities will be crucial in determining the project timeline. Once approved, construction is expected to begin swiftly.
