Hyderabad Metro Update: The officials on Friday stated that the Hyderabad Metro will be extended up to the proposed Future City to improve the connectivity of the city. They stated that the decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, where he instructed the authorities to prepare plans for the project. The officials stated that the project will reduce traffic congestion in several key areas and will boost financial activities.
The chief minister reportedly instructed the officials to prepare a plan to expand the metro services by 40 km. The officials stated that the metro services will be expanded from the airport to the Young India Skills Development University in Future City. Earlier last month, a government advisory stated that a future city is being planned to be developed across 30,000 acres. The metro services are likely to be expanded to the future city for better connectivity.
Revanth Reddy reportedly instructed the authority to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) along with cost estimates, further instructing them to submit the report to the central government. The reports also suggest that the Future City Development Authority (FSDA) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will jointly work on the expansion project.
Apart from this, the chief minister also sought details about the second phase of the Metro Rail project. The officials stated that several of the proposals are pending from the central government, adding that several discussions have been held in Delhi to seek early clearance.
The officials stated that the DPR for the second phase has already been submitted, and the second phase includes several routes, including Nagole to Shamshabad Airport (36.8 km), Raidurgam to Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km), MGBS to Chandrayangutta (7.5 km), Miyapur to Patancheru (13.4 km), and LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km).
